Generate Group has a strong track record of building software solutions within the public transportation industry
Under the leadership of our senior consultant and advisor David Looberger, we developed a custom-built ticketing system on the AWS Cloud, featuring robust, flexible architecture and mobile-first solutions. This new system supports multiple ticket purchasing options and seamless integration across transport modes.
The revamped system has greatly enhanced the accessibility and reliability of public transport, supporting nearly 800 000 daily riders. Innovations such as contactless payments and automated discounts have improved customer satisfaction and had a significant economic impact on the city, boosting local businesses and tourism post-COVID-19.
The project was such a success that AWS wrote a blog post about it.

In 2019, the government initiated a significant step towards streamlining public transportation across Sweden by appointing a special investigator. The investigator was tasked with examining the requirements for introducing a national ticketing system for all public transport and providing comprehensive proposals on the design, construction, and financing of such a system. Our team played a crucial role in this initiative by providing strategic and technical advisory to ensure an effective implementation of the proposed system. A substantial part of the recommended digital infrastructure in the official report was directly influenced by our expert input and guidance.
For those interested in delving deeper into the findings and recommendations, more detailed information about the official report is available online.
Our team engaged in deep Android development, utilising tools like Kotlin, Jetpack, and Compose to craft a robust application. We implemented continuous integration and delivery pipelines to streamline updates and maintain quality. Our design expertise was crucial in making the app both functional and user-friendly.
The Travis app has transformed public transportation by combining trip planning, ticketing, and vehicle rentals into a single, streamlined interface. We introduced a secure, effortless ticketing system with cryptographic safeguards and a tailored payment mechanism for quick in-app purchases. Real-time updates ensure seamless transitions between different transport options like scooters and buses.
This project showcases our ability to address significant challenges with innovative solutions, significantly enhancing urban mobility for thousands of users. The Travis app exemplifies our commitment to delivering technology that is not only effective but enjoyable to use, redefining the urban transit experience.
